Flower Mound, Texas

DESTINATION:  Flower Mound, TX

Before the holiday hustle and bustle of Christmas took over, we decided to take a little break and treat ourselves to a camping adventure. Our destination? The beautiful Twin Coves Park and Campground, nestled in the serene surroundings of Flower Mound, Texas. The timing was perfect as it coincided with the first cool front of the winter season, bringing in crisp temperatures and a refreshing breeze that made our outdoor adventure all the more exciting.

Since it was right before Christmas, we couldn’t resist adding a bit of holiday cheer to our campsite. We decked out our tent and surrounding area with string lights, small decorations, and a few festive touches that made it feel like our own winter wonderland. The twinkling lights added a warm glow as the evening sky darkened, making for an extra cozy atmosphere.

What’s camping without good food? This trip, we were all about enjoying the simple pleasures of cooking over an open flame. We decided to go all out and smoked a delicious brisket—perfectly tender and flavorful. It was the ideal meal for a chilly evening, and we savored every bite under the stars.

Back in June, we took part in the Longest Day Fundraiser, a campaign by the Alzheimer’s Association that supports those living with Alzheimer's and their families. As part of the initiative, TK’s photography business had donated to the cause, and as a thank-you, we were sent two luminaries — beautiful symbols of remembrance for our loved ones.

One of the highlights of our trip was riding our electric bikes around the park. With the cool wind in our faces and the trails stretching out before us, it was an incredibly enjoyable way to cover more ground. It also allowed us to venture out beyond the park boundaries and explore Post Oak Park, a nearby neighborhood park. The paths were perfect for biking, and we found a couple of interesting geocache spots along the way.

Our time at Twin Coves Park was exactly what we needed—a peaceful retreat that allowed us to unplug and immerse ourselves in nature. Between the festive atmosphere, delicious food, and outdoor activities, it was a camping experience we won’t soon forget. As we headed home to prepare for the holiday season, we left with full hearts and memories of a perfect pre-Christmas getaway.

If you’re looking for a spot to enjoy some fresh air, explore the outdoors, or simply relax by the water, Twin Coves Park is definitely worth a visit. Happy camping!
